The primary objective of this seminar is to cover critical managerial aspects and characteristics of hedge funds. The seminar is motivated by the increase in the hedge fund industry. With asset under management of over $1 trillion, hedge funds have evolved into a significant player in financial markets.

At the end of the seminar participants should have an understanding of the hedge fund industry, trading strategies and performance of hedge funds. The course also treats the legal foundations and structures of hedge funds including regulations relevant for hedge funds.
This seminar will explore hedge funds from a number of perspectives: hedge fund partnerships, investors in hedge fund partnerships and regulators.
The pedagogy used will be a combination of lecture based discussions and case-studies.
Carmen Stefanescu - Professor of finance at l'ESSEC)
Carmen holds a PhD in Finance from the University of Alberta (Canada). Her fields of expertise are Investments and Market Microstructure. At ESSEC, she is responsible with teaching Portfolio Management, Hedge Funds and Financial Markets.
